PTO Meeting
November 20, 2008 -- 6:30 pm Parish

1.
Meeting started (6:30) by the St. Mary’s Band
led by Mary Lambeth performing three pieces.
Principal Nadicksbernd highlighted the fact that Mrs. Lambeth and the band
are to be applauded for their efforts.
2.
Attendees: Julie Adams Vice
President; Charlotte Cannon Treasurer; Sandy Boole Secretary; Regina
Nadicksbernd Principal; Jane Olson K5A; Patty Bellote K5B/4A; Linda
Baradon 1B; Debbie Cordier 2A; Judy Musteric 3A; Serra Abel 3B; There were
other Representatives present, but the sign up sheet was not announced and
missed by some. Many SMS teachers and many parents present. Mrs.
Nadicksbernd announced that the children of those parents present could
wear Jeans the following day.

Treasurers Report: Charlotte Cannon
passed out the spreadsheets listing the following:
Fundraiser Books profit
was $5,649. (Way to go
Charlotte!)
Spaghetti Dinner (not
meant to be a fundraiser) $600.
T-shirts profit $1318.
Art to remember will
likely yield about $1700.
Note: the Art to Remember
has replaced the former Santa’s Shop

Principal’s Report: The new
bleachers have arrived. Ms. Nadicksbernd thanked all parents for their
support in providing these for the school.
5. Old Business
T-shirts: Kerry Huffman announced
that if anyone wanted more t-shirts they can place an order in the
office. The committee can place an order again in January.
Art to
Remember: Judy Musteric thanked all
the volunteers by name that helped make the program successful. They are
expecting the art to arrive the week after Thanksgiving.
6. New Business –
The
Walk: Serra Abel explained about the
Walk/Run program. The students will receive incentives for mileage. She
measured that 8 times around the playground is 1 mile. They can walk
during recess. This will encourage more physical activity outside which
should help with more focused attention inside the classroom. The plan is
for the program to start in January. The program is still in the
process of being formed, all ideas are welcomed.
7. Mrs.
Nadicksbernd thanked the PTO and
also announced the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner/lunch to be held later
that week. She announced Ms. Barbara Younger, Youth Director for St.
Mary’s Parish by explaining her “Faith Walk” with Barbara, which began
15 years ago. Barbara spoke about the path to holiness. She provided a
card for each parent to remind them about their path to holiness: From
Mother Teresa, it says, “the fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of
prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of is service,
the fruit of service is peace.” She closed with a prayer.

Nadicksbernd thanked the parents for coming and explained that one goal
was to keep the meetings short and share information that will help us
all.
